Making music brings us joy, pure and simple. It connects us with our soul through self expression. But sometimes we can get distracted by other people’s opinions and expectations about our music. Will Hearn is a young musician who explains how he managed to avoid the trap of making music to suit others. He also gives some great tips on managing your stage fright!
Our simple steps to connecting through music include:
- Remember why you’re making music in the first place... for the love of it
- Allow yourself to express yourself through music without placing any importance on the outcome. Don’t expect to write a great song... expect to enjoy playing music
- Before you step on stage tell yourself whatever it is you’d like to hear from someone else eg.
“Everything’s fine. You’re a great musician” or simply “I allow myself to enjoy this completely”
